Corrosion resistance of fluoroplastics

2023-04-18

Polytetrafluoroethylene PTFE (F4)

Applicable media: strong acids, bases, oxidizing agents, organic solvents, etc. Working temperature: ≤ 180 ℃

Features: excellent chemical stability, high heat resistance and cold resistance; The friction coefficient is very low, making it an excellent self lubricating material with poor fluidity and large thermal expansion. Its unique performance is unparalleled by other materials, so polytetrafluoroethylene is known as the "king of plastics" and is a corrosion-resistant material today.

Soluble polytetrafluoroethylene (PFA)

Applicable media: strong acids, bases, oxidizing agents, organic solvents, etc. Working temperature: ≤ 180 ℃

Characteristics: It is a new type of fluorinated resin similar to F46, developed to overcome the difficulties in processing and forming polytetrafluoroethylene, and fully maintains the excellent performance of polytetrafluoroethylene. Good mechanical and electrical insulation performance, outstanding heat resistance and low friction coefficient, flame retardant, low smoke, and good atmospheric resistance. The advantage is that it is relatively easy to shape and process.

Polyfluoroethylene propylene FEP (F46)

Applicable medium: Any organic solvent or reagent, dilute or inorganic acids, alcohols, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, etc. Working temperature: ≤ 180 ℃

Features: The mechanical, electrical properties and chemical stability are basically the same as F4, but the outstanding advantage is that the impact toughness is high, even the notched sample is punched continuously, with excellent weather resistance and radiation, and easy to form and process. It is a fluorine containing resin developed to overcome the difficulties in forming and processing polytetrafluoroethylene. Except for being used at temperatures lower than F4, it maintains the excellent properties of polytetrafluoroethylene.

Polychlorotrifluoroethylene PCTFE (F3)

Applicable media: various organic solvents, inorganic corrosive liquids (oxidizing acids). Working temperature: ≤ 120 ℃

Features: heat resistance, electrical performance and chemical stability are second only to F4, and mechanical strength, creep resistance and hardness are better than F4.

Polyvinylidene fluoride PVDF (F2)

Applicable medium: resistant to most chemicals and solvents. Working temperature: ≤ 120 ℃

Features: The tensile strength and compressive strength are better than F4, with good bending resistance and cold flow resistance; Weather resistance, radiation resistance, light resistance, aging resistance, etc., characterized by strong adhesion, good toughness, and easy molding.
